SPARKY AND CHARLIE'S AMAZING ADVENTURE

Lucasfilm
Hiro Narita

Bovill was hired by Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic in 1988, to Production Design this experimental and very early High Definition Television (HDTV) short story. It was shot by the renowned Director of Photography Hiro Narita.

Bovill brought his willingness to take chances suggesting they take the entire crew to a remote desert landscape just outside of Las Vegas, and use it as the planet surface. Bovill suggestion won out and they shot the scenes they needed in the Valley of Fire State Park. It is an amazing otherworldly environment that was perfect for depicting some other world.

This is a shot showing the crew setting up in an off-limits to the general public part of the state park.
